Draw Me a Story
Do your kids love reading or having you read to them? In this class, I’ll start by reading a book. Next we’ll take it a step further, by tying in the book that we just read to a hands on art lesson. This is also a great class to work on fine motor skills like cutting with scissors.
Class Schedule(s)

The focus of this class is to bring together both literature and art. Each week we'll read and talk about a new book. The choice of books will range from animals to outer space. Afterwards we’ll use a variety of art supplies to get creative and have fun. I use a wonderful art resource called deepspacesparkle.com. All of their lessons adhere to state standards. If you have an emerging writer at home there is also a I Like My Art Because… page. This can compliment their artwork and help develop their writing skills. When I’m not using a lesson from Deep Space Sparkle, I like to have the class draw their favorite part or favorite character. They might even want to make up and draw their own ending!

I have been teaching art for the past four years to K-12 as well as beginning adults. Before teaching art full time I was a preschool teacher for 10 years. I love inspiring confidence and creativity!
