Being able to easily and effectively write a basic 5-paragraph essay is an essential skill that all middle school, high school, and college students should have. This course provides a formula/framework to organize the essay and teaches the student to let the reader clearly understand what the paper is about. Students will be taken through the process of writing their own research essay step by step.

Being able to easily and effectively write a basic 5-paragraph essay is an essential skill that all middle school, high school, and college students should have. Much of high school and college require essay writing. Knowing how to easily and effectively write an essay gives you an advantage and makes this part of school easier, allowing the student to focus on learning and researching topics.
This course provides a formula/framework to organize the essay and teaches the student to let the reader clearly understand what the paper is about. The ultimate point we strive to attain in writing is to be able to organize our thoughts and clearly write them on paper, with the thesis and supporting evidence clear. In addition, students will learn how to format the essay and cite sources. The student will be taken through the steps and will write their own research essay in this course.

Heather Vargas has 25 years experience in teaching, 19 of those homeschooling her 5 children. Two are in college now - the first is pursuing a degree in Global Studies/Peace and Conflict at UC Berkeley and the second is studying Political Science and Psychology at San Diego State, while the youngest ones are still homeschooled. Having attended UCLA for undergraduate and graduate school and earning a degree in molecular and cellular biology, science and math are a specialty. After many years of creating and teaching her own homeschool curriculum, she is able to supply and teach curriculum in all subjects.
