Class Description

This class was born to bridge the gap between the written word and oral comprehension in Spanish. All students with different experience levels in Spanish will learn to be empowered to think, write and talk in Spanish.

Here are some generalized topics and activities that may be covered in this class:

• Introduction: Engaging and understanding where all the student levels are for Spanish

• Dictation Activity: Instructor will read 1-2 paragraph(s) slowly in Spanish while students transcribe the reading. Instructor will send the original copy for the students to review their version and the original for correction. Students will also be reading their corrected transcriptions back to the instructor so they have a chance to work on pronunciation practice. 

• The pronunciation activity is encouraged but not pressured for any of the students.

• Potential authors that could be covered from this course: Isabel Allende, Julia Alvarez, Miguel Cervantes, Jorge Luis Borges, Federic Garcia Lorca. We will have an opportunity to also explore the author’s background, their lives and about their historical background. 

• Potential Spanish translations of English language classics that could be covered from this class: Animal Farm by George Orwell, Wuthering Heights by Charlotte Bronte, and more!

  
  

About the Instructor:

Spanish is not my native language, therefore I have great empathy to newcomers to second language proficiency. I grew to adore and love Spanish literature and conversation. For this class, my goal is to help students feel comfortable in speaking and thinking in Spanish with fun activities and conversations.
