Class Description

Students will gain a foundational historical understanding of both World War 1 and World War 2 while enjoying the fascinating content and intriguing photos found in our textbook, "The World Wars". Over the course of the 12 class sessions, we will also consume and discuss supplemental articles, videos, and other relevant media. Students will have assigned reading each week, along with occasional research assignments in which they will further investigate World War topics of interest that they choose from a list.

  • Week 1: The First World War
  • Week 2: Over by Christmas?
  • Week 3: Going Global
  • Week 4: Deadlock
  • Week 5: The Big Battles
  • Week 6: Crisis & Resolution
  • Week 7: Peace & its Aftermath
  • Week 8: The Second World War & War Begins in Europe
  • Week 9: European War to World War
  • Week 10: The Tide Turns
  • Week 11: Defeat of Germany & Japan
  • Week 12: The World After the War

About Jonathan Vince

Jonathan has taught and tutored students in multiple subjects since 2003, but his specialty is with English. He first honed his writing skills as a reporter for a small newspaper in Sierra Madre, and then branched out into the education field. He has taught Language Arts to every grade level from 5th to 11th (including a two-year detour delving into World History with 7th graders), as well as Bible, Photography, Guitar, and First Aid/CPR to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.
