Coach Profile

Jonathan has taught and tutored students in multiple subjects since 2003, but his specialty is with English. He first honed his writing skills as a reporter for a small newspaper in Sierra Madre, and then branched out into the education field. He has taught Language Arts to every grade level from 5th to 11th (including a two-year detour delving into World History with 7th graders), as well as Bible, Photography, Guitar, and First Aid/CPR to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. In 2013 he wrapped up four wonderful years at a Christian school in Walnut Creek, moved back to Southern California, got married, and later became the owner of a small tutoring company. Jonathan has since sold the company to grow his side hustle: buying vacant homes, fixing and renting them. He and his wife Sarah have three children, two of whom are in a homeschool program, and one who is in diapers. In Jonathan’s (precious little) spare time, he can't get enough of the outdoors, and in particular, the ocean. Anything that puts him in, on, or under the water is fair game, but his favorites are surfing, sailing, and scuba diving.
