Xiomara Puentes
My name is Xiomara Puentes. I have been in the education field for 20 years of all age groups, private and group settings. I have a Master’s degree in education. For the past 4 years, I have concentrated in teaching my first language, Spanish. I was born in LA and my mother is from Cuba. I was fortunate to grow up in a Spanish culture and have had the fortunate opportunity to be immersed in the various Spanish cultures of Latin America. My classes concentrate on having students learn Spanish by expanding vocabulary and learning verb conjugations. I use a variety of methods to teach students to begin orally practicing Spanish. I utilize games to involve students to orally practice their knowledge in Spanish. The book, Spanish Middle/High School, Carson-Dellosa Publishing Company is used for students to practice and study. It also allows parents to have an idea where students are at in Spanish and help them study Spanish at home.
